Job Description

3 PhD positions in Nanoelectronics (Ref.no.: 07/5140) at the
Department of Informatics, University of Oslo

The group for Nanoelectronics (NANO) at the Department of
Informatics, University of Oslo, Norway, is focusing on analog and
digital microelectronics with a particular emphasis on low-power
systems for use in wireless sensor networks. Our current research
includes

* Data Converters (ADC and DAC)
* Low-power processing logic
* Neuromorphic Systems
* RF MEMS
* UWB Impulse Radio

Our research ranges from system-level issues to full-custom physical
implementations. See http://www.ifi.uio.no/forskning/grupper/nano/
for more information about the group.

There are three PhD positions available on the project: "Low-power
nano-/microelectronics for wireless sensor networks".

The project comprises the following research topics: Low-power data
conversion, Power saving topologies for signal processing, RF-
MEMS/CMOS integration, UWB-IR radio communication.

We are looking for candidates with relevant background in at least
one of the following areas: Data conversion, Low-power CMOS design,
RF-MEMS/CMOS integration. She/he must have a good education in
theoretical aspects of nano-/microelectronics, including analog-
/mixed-signal CMOS design and physics. The candidate must be able to
work both in theory and physical implementation. Applicants should
have an appropriate BSc or MSc degree.

* The positions are for 4 years and it comprises some teaching
obligations (25%).
* The positions are available from September 15th 2007.
* Applications must be received by August 27th, 2007.

2.300 to 2.130 euros) per month, after taxes. The salary increases
about 10.000 NOK (before tax) per year for the second and third
year. Salary includes standard Norwegian social and health insurance
and contribution to retirement.

Applications consists of a statement of your fields of interest, a
CV, which must include complete information about education at both
bachelor and master level, documented scientific experience, and at
least two academic references (name, position, e-mail and telephone
number). Good knowledge of English is mandatory. All employees must
satisfy the entrance requirements for the doctoral degree program at
the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Women are
especially encouraged to apply.

The University of Oslo wishes to achieve a more equal distribution
of scientific employees between the genders. Female applicants are
encouraged to apply.

UiO has an agreement for all employees, aiming to secure rights to
