Annual tax free stipend of approximately $25,616 p.a. for 3 years with a possibility to extend up to 3.5 years (on a full time basis).

Tuition fee does not apply.

Potential for further earning through sessional tutoring and/or research assitance work in the Law Faculty.

Relocation and thesis allowance available.
Project Outline
Two PhD scholarships are available in relation to the research programme which seeks to develop model frameworks for civil commitment laws and sentencing options for mentally ill offenders. The programme will provide a comprehensive analysis of mental health and sentencing laws in five common law jurisdictions in order to develop the model frameworks. The successful PhD applicants will be expected to develop their theses in line with the programme's aims.
Applicants
Applicants should be law graduates with first class honours or equivalent qualifications. Familiarity with mental health law, either civil or criminal, is preferable. Applicants must be Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens. Successful applicants must be able to commence in 2008.

For initial assessment, applicants are requested to complete the application form. The successful applicants will be requested to complete a Monash University PhD application form at a later stage.
